Vassar Research Team

Purpose-driven, mentor-based team equipped to make medical research better. We leverage the research process as a learning mechanism to transform team members into evidence-based thinkers. She is a rockstar on the team and we can’t wait to see how this residency interview season goes for her!

Last month, third year students Kirstien Minley, E Last month, third year students Kirstien Minley, Ellie Garrett, and Alex Douglas presented research at the Research Society on Alcoholism conference in Orlando, FL. They are a part of our T-35 cohort geared towards pairing Native American medical students with research mentors across the country. Their mentors are from the Prevention Research Center in California and the Yale School of Medicine - Department of Psychiatry. Great job!!

Big weekend for team members attending conferences Big weekend for team members attending conferences! Samuel Shepard and Marvin Carr attended the @nationalsaoao Conference in Carlsbad, CA. Alex Douglas attended the @acpinternists Conference in Chicago, IL. 

Samuel gave a podium presentation on “Examining the Public's Most Frequently Asked Questions about Carpal Tunnel Syndrome andAppraising Online Information about Treatment.”
Alex was a poster finalist for “Patient-Reported Outcomes are Frequently Incomplete in Randomized Controlled Trials Focused on Alcohol Use Disorder - a Meta-Epidemiological Analysis.”

Kelsi Batioja and Tiffany Nguyen were published in the Journal of Pediatric Orthopedics, while Mitchell Love and Jordan Staggs were published in Critical Reviews in Oncology/Hematology. 🎉

Their project on Cardiovascular Assessment in Non-Cardiac Surgery clinical practice guidelines was accepted to the British Journal of Anaesthesia!
